Q1: Where are these PTFE support pads and slide blocks typically used in chemical equipment?
A1: They are commonly installed on reactor brackets, tank bases, pipeline sliding supports, heat exchanger guides, and other anti-corrosion equipment contact surfaces that require low-friction movement, vibration isolation, or separation from corrosive media.
Q2: Can you customize non-standard shapes based on my existing mounting dimensions?
A2: Yes. We fully support customization of ID, OD, thickness, length, and complex profiles. Simply provide 2D (PDF/CAD) or 3D (IGES/STEP) drawings, and we will machine to your specifications without extra tooling charges.
Q3: Pure PTFE is relatively soft. How do you ensure it does not flatten or deform under heavy loads?
A3: For high-load conditions, we can add reinforcing fillers such as glass fiber, carbon fiber, or bronze powder to significantly improve compressive strength and creep resistance. Just inform us of your load and temperature range, and we will recommend the optimal filler formulation.
Q4: What chemicals can this material resist? Is it suitable for strong acids and alkalis?
A4: PTFE offers exceptional chemical inertness and resists almost all common acids, alkalis, organic solvents, and corrosive gases, making it ideal for chemical processing, electroplating, hydrometallurgy, and other severely corrosive environments.
Q5: What is the operating temperature range? Will it become brittle or soften at extreme temperatures?
A5: The continuous service range is -200°C to +260°C. Modified formulations can further extend the upper limit or improve low-temperature toughness, maintaining dimensional stability and mechanical strength even under cryogenic or high-temperature conditions.
Q6: Does this slide block require lubrication? What are its advantages over metal slide blocks?
A6: No external lubrication is needed because PTFE has a very low coefficient of friction and is self-lubricating. Unlike metal blocks, it will not rust or gall, and it protects the mating metal guide surfaces, reducing maintenance costs.
Q7: If the equipment is frequently disassembled for cleaning, is this pad easy to install and remove?
A7: We can design mounting holes or embedment grooves for quick assembly/disassembly. We also offer options such as pre-drilled holes, countersunk holes, or adhesive backing based on your preferred installation method.
Q8: Do you provide material compliance documentation, e.g., for food or pharmaceutical applications?
A8: Yes, we can supply FDA, ROHS, and REACH declarations, as well as MSDS technical data sheets upon request. If your application involves food contact or medical hygiene, please specify when ordering, and we will select the appropriate grade of raw material.
