Q1: What are the main advantages over virgin PTFE tube?
A1: Compared to virgin PTFE, graphite filled tube offers higher thermal conductivity (for faster dissipation of frictional heat), lower wear rate (especially for reciprocating or rotating motion), and better dimensional stability (anti-creep). However, chemical purity is slightly reduced, so it is not recommended for food or pharmaceutical contact.
Q2: Can this tube handle strong acids or alkalis?
A2: The PTFE matrix resists most chemicals, but graphite filler can be oxidized by strong oxidizing acids. Therefore, we do not recommend it for such environments. For common acids, alkalis, solvents, and oils, its corrosion resistance remains excellent.
Q3: What is the continuous working temperature range?
A3: With graphite filling, the continuous service range remains -200°C to +260°C, similar to virgin PTFE. At high temperatures, graphite enhances structural stability and reduces distortion.
Q4: Can you customize ID, OD, and length according to my pipe fitting dimensions? What tolerances?
A4: Yes. We support imperial or metric sizes with OD and ID tolerances as tight as ±0.05mm, and length can be cut to your requirement. Just provide your drawing or specifications.
Q5: Can this tube be machined (turning, drilling, threading)?
A5: Absolutely. Graphite filled PTFE machines well with standard carbide tools for turning, milling, drilling, and threading. Ensure proper cooling and sharp tools to avoid rough surface finish.
Q6: Is this tube suitable for food, pharmaceutical, or drinking water applications?
A6: No, not recommended. Due to graphite filler, it does not meet FDA food-contact requirements and should not be used in pharmaceutical or potable water systems. For food-grade needs, please choose our virgin PTFE tube or FDA-approved filled alternatives.
