Virgin PTFE Rod 

Made entirely from 100% virgin PTFE suspension resin with no fillers added.
1.Extruded PTFE Rod: Sintered through continuous ram extrusion to form continuous long rods. Suitable for small-to-medium diameters and mass production. Molecules are oriented along the axial direction, making it ideal for high-volume machining.
2.Compression-Molded PTFE Rod: Subjected to intermittent compression-molding followed by integral sintering. Suitable for large-diameter sizes. The blanks feature dense structure with better resistance to cold-flow creep. Each individual blank is relatively short in length and produced in batches.

Both types are naturally pure white. They deliver excellent chemical corrosion resistance, a wide operating temperature range, a low coefficient of friction and high electrical insulation. They are used for secondary machining into shaft sleeves, sliding blocks, sealing components and insulating spare parts.

Q1: What is the difference between extruded and molded rod, and how do I choose for precision machined parts?
A1: Extruded rod suits standard diameters (typically ≤100 mm) and longer continuous lengths, with higher efficiency for volume standard parts. Molded rod handles large diameters (up to 350 mm) and thick walls, offering higher density, lower internal stress, and better creep resistance, with superior dimensional stability after machining. For precision seals, valve seats, and insulators requiring high density and low deformation, choose molded; for standard bushings and guide rings, extruded is suitable.

Q2: Diameters from 5 to 350 mm and custom lengths are offered. Can you provide non-standard sizes or special tolerances?
A2: Yes. We support standard and non-standard diameters, with lengths cut to order. Special tolerances, such as diameter ±0.05 mm or length ±0.5 mm, can be noted in your order. We can also pre-machine or deliver finished parts per 2D/3D drawings.

Q3: Can this PTFE rod be filled for reinforcement? What options are available?
A3: Yes. Common fillers include carbon fiber, glass fiber, graphite, molybdenum disulfide, bronze, and ceramics. Carbon fiber improves creep resistance and rigidity; glass fiber boosts strength; graphite and MoS2 reduce friction; bronze enhances heat dissipation. Filled grades are not suitable for food contact but significantly improve mechanical and thermal performance.

Q4: How do pure PTFE and filled PTFE rods differ in precision machining?
A4: Pure PTFE offers the best chemical inertness and purity, suitable for food, pharmaceutical, and semiconductor applications, but has lower creep resistance and rigidity. Filled PTFE provides higher mechanical strength, lower thermal expansion, and better wear resistance, ideal for load-bearing or friction-intensive precision parts, though chemical resistance may decrease depending on the filler. Choose based on your service conditions.

Q5: Is this rod easy to machine? Can it be turned, milled, drilled, and tapped?
A5: Very easy. PTFE rod offers excellent machinability for turning, milling, drilling, tapping, and slotting, with dimensional stability and minimal deformation. We accept PDF/CAD 2D drawings and IGES/STEP 3D models, machining precision parts and delivering finished components directly.

Q6: What is the chemical resistance?
A6: Continuous service temperature is -200°C to +260°C. Pure PTFE resists almost all strong acids, bases, and organic solvents. Filled grades' chemical resistance depends on the filler, typically suitable for oils, water, and hydrocarbons, but strong oxidizing acids should be avoided. Provide your specific media for compatibility confirmation.

Q7: Do you provide FDA, MSDS, ROHS, and REACH documentation?
A7: Pure PTFE grades come with FDA compliance statements, MSDS, ROHS, and REACH documents, suitable for food, pharmaceutical, and potable water contact. Filled grades can be supplied with MSDS, ROHS, and REACH, but are not FDA-compliant and are for industrial use only. Documents are provided with shipments or upon request.

Q8: How do you ensure batch-to-batch quality and dimensional consistency?
A8: We use controlled raw material compounding and extrusion or molding processes. Each batch is inspected for density, hardness, tensile strength, diameter, and length tolerances. Retained samples and lot traceability records ensure stable supply to meet the material consistency required for precision machining.

Q9: Can you machine the rod into finished parts according to my drawings, not just supply raw rod?
A9: Yes. We not only supply PTFE solid round rod but also precision machine it per your 2D/3D drawings, delivering finished components such as seal rings, valve seats, bushings, insulators, and guide rings - reducing your secondary processing steps.
