A: The rings are made from high-purity flexible graphite tape through molding or lathe cutting, containing no resin, rubber, or metal binders. Grades with corrosion inhibitors (e.g., zinc powder) are available to enhance resistance against electrochemical corrosion.

2. What are the maximum temperature and pressure ratings for this product?
A: In oxidizing media, the recommended temperature range is -200°C to +450°C; in non-oxidizing media, it can withstand up to +650°C. The maximum pressure is typically 400 bar (≈40 MPa), depending on the sealing configuration.

3. Which media are flexible graphite rings suitable for? Can they be used in strong acid or strong alkali environments?
A: The rings exhibit excellent resistance to most corrosive media, including strong acids (except highly oxidizing acids like concentrated sulfuric and nitric acid), strong alkalis, organic solvents, steam, and hot oils. Long-term exposure to strongly oxidizing acids (e.g., fuming nitric acid) is not recommended.

4. What is the sealing mechanism of this product? Does it require high bolt preload?
A: Flexible graphite offers excellent compressibility and resilience, enabling an effective seal even under low bolt preload. When compressed, the graphite flakes interlock and fill microscopic irregularities on flange or valve stem surfaces.

5. What are the advantages of flexible graphite rings over PTFE or rubber sealing rings?
A: Compared to PTFE, flexible graphite rings have higher temperature resistance, better creep relaxation resistance, and superior thermal conductivity. Compared to rubber, they resist almost all chemicals and do not age or harden. They are ideal for high-temperature, high-pressure, thermal cycling, and highly corrosive applications.

6. How do I determine the required inner diameter, outer diameter, and height? Do you support custom non-standard sizes?
A: Simply provide the stem or shaft diameter (for ring ID), the stuffing box bore diameter (for ring OD), and the height of each ring. We support custom non-standard sizes from 3 mm up to over 500 mm, available as split angle-cut rings or solid rings.

7. What should I pay attention to when installing flexible graphite rings?
A: Clean the stuffing box and stem surface before installation. Insert rings one by one, compacting each with a dedicated sleeve; stagger the cuts of adjacent rings by 90°-120°. Tighten bolts evenly and symmetrically to avoid uneven compression. Never hammer the rings into place.

8. What is the service life of this product? How do I know when to replace it?
A: Service life depends on operating conditions (temperature, pressure, cycling frequency, etc.). In typical steam or hot oil systems, it can last 2-5 years. Replacement is needed when persistent minor leakage appears at the stem, the gland requires frequent re-tightening, or the rings become hardened and lose resilience.

9.Does long-term storage affect the performance of flexible graphite rings? How should they be stored?
A: Flexible graphite rings are virtually unaffected by storage time - no aging or hardening occurs. Store in a dry, clean, room temperature environment, away from oil, dust, and mechanical damage. No special light or humidity control is needed.
