Our service

Chunhuan Group (Zhenjiang Chunhuan Sealing Group Co., Ltd.), established in 1985, is a leading manufacturer of fluoroplastic products, chemical semiconductor linings, and new energy sealing gaskets. The company primarily focuses on the research, development, and production of fluoroplastic series sealing products (for hydrogen energy and nuclear power applications) and chemical semiconductor linings. With subsidiaries in South Korea and Shanghai, the group has also established a joint venture with South Korea's Houcheng Group for semiconductor lining equipment. Main production: PTFE products, metal seals series, steel lining anti-corrosion series, engineering plastics series, rubber products series,it is the leading enterprise in the national fluoroplastics industry. The company supplies more than 300 varieties of PTFE composite modified materials, ranging from standard composite modified materials (bronze, glass fiber, carbon, graphite, etc.) to customized solutions to meet different production needs of customers. The company provides flexible quantity and fast delivery service. The engineers have 35 years working experience in the field of PTFE,serving customers in more than 30 countries.

Q1: What is the difference between expanded PTFE sheet and standard PTFE sheet?
A1: Expanded PTFE sheet is produced through a special stretching process that creates a micro-fibrous network structure. It has lower density (approx. 0.8-1.2 g/cm³) and offers better compressibility and recovery, allowing a tight seal with low bolt load. Standard PTFE sheet is denser, harder, and more prone to creep relaxation.
Q2: What media can expanded PTFE sheet be used to seal?
A2: It is suitable for strong acids, strong alkalis, solvents, hydrocarbons, refrigerants, steam, oxygen, and food-grade media. Due to its chemical inertness, it resists almost all industrial chemicals (except molten alkali metals and high-temperature fluorine gas).
Q3: Is this material suitable for food or pharmaceutical applications?
A3: Yes. Expanded PTFE sheet is typically made of pure PTFE without binders or fillers. It complies with FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 and also meets USP Class VI and EU 1935/2004 standards, making it suitable for food processing, pharmaceutical, and drinking water systems.
Q4: What are the maximum operating temperature and pressure of expanded PTFE sheet?
A4: The continuous operating temperature ranges from -240°C to +260°C. Sealing pressure depends on flange type and gasket thickness, with a typical recommended sealing pressure up to 10 MPa (approx. 100 bar). It performs exceptionally well at low to medium pressures.
Q5: Is this gasket sheet prone to creep or cold flow?
A5: The micro-fibrous structure of expanded PTFE significantly reduces creep and cold flow tendencies. It exhibits much lower stress relaxation compared to standard PTFE, with minimal thickness loss over long-term service, making it ideal for applications requiring sustained bolt preload.
Q6: Can the thickness and size of expanded PTFE sheet be customized?
A6: Yes. Common thicknesses include 0.5 mm, 1.0 mm, 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm, 3.0 mm, etc. It is available in rolls or sheets. We can also cut to gaskets per your drawing or die-cut any shape.
Q7: Does installing an expanded PTFE gasket require very high bolt preload?
A7: No. Expanded PTFE sheet offers excellent compressibility and recovery. A tight seal can be achieved with relatively low bolt load, making it especially suitable for brittle flanges (e.g., FRP, plastic, ceramic) or low-pressure, large-diameter equipment.
Q8: Can this sheet withstand high-temperature steam? Does it hydrolyze?
A8: Yes, it can withstand high-temperature steam. PTFE does not hydrolyze and remains stable under long-term saturated steam service. However, slight permeation may occur at very high steam temperatures; for such cases, we recommend a high-density expanded PTFE grade.
Q9: Is expanded PTFE sheet non-stick? Will it adhere to the flange after use?
A9: PTFE has a very low surface energy and inherent non-stick properties, so it usually does not bond to flange surfaces. For long-term high-temperature service, we suggest applying a light anti-seize agent on the flange or using an easy-peel product with adhesive backing.
Q10: How can I prove material compliance? Can you provide relevant certificates?
A10: We can provide FDA declaration of conformity, RoHS and REACH test reports, and MSDS documentation. For food-grade or pharmaceutical-grade certificates (e.g., USP Class VI), batch-specific test reports can also be supplied with the shipment.
