A1: Glass fiber reinforcement significantly enhances compressive strength, creep resistance, and dimensional stability, while reducing the coefficient of linear thermal expansion. This makes the sheet less prone to deformation under high temperature and pressure, ideal for sealing gaskets and structural supports.
Q2: What thickness range can you supply, and what are the maximum length and width?
A2: Thickness typically ranges from 1 mm up to 100 mm. Length and width can be custom cut to your requirements. Standard parent sheets come in various sizes, and non-standard dimensions are available upon providing a drawing or size specification.
Q3: Does glass fiber filling affect the chemical resistance of PTFE?
A3: Glass fiber itself is resistant to most acids and alkalis, but may be attacked by strong hydrofluoric acid or hot concentrated caustic solutions. We will evaluate compatibility based on your media, and recommend alternative fillers (e.g., carbon fiber or virgin PTFE) if necessary.
Q4: Do you offer cutting services? Can you produce round gaskets or custom shapes?
A5: Yes, we provide precision cutting services. Based on your 2D (PDF/CAD) or 3D (IGES/STEP) drawings, we can cut washers, strips, flange gaskets, complex profiles, etc., saving your secondary processing steps.
Q5: What is the continuous service temperature for glass-filled PTFE?
A6: The continuous operating range is generally -200°C to +260°C, same as virgin PTFE. The filler does not reduce the upper limit, but improves resistance to deformation at high temperatures.
Q6: What is the surface finish of the sheet? Is it suitable for direct sliding/guide applications?
A7: The as-supplied surface is smooth and flat, with a typical roughness Ra ≤ 1.6 μm and self-lubricating properties. For guide rails or wear strips, it can be used directly; further polishing is optional for even lower friction.
Q7: What maximum pressure can this sheet withstand?
A9: Static compressive strength is around 25-30 MPa (depending on glass content), and the recommended design pressure is below 20 MPa. For higher loads, increasing thickness or selecting a higher filler ratio is possible.
Q8: Do you support small-batch prototyping, and what information should I provide?
A10: Yes, we support trial samples. Simply provide your dimension drawing or describe your operating conditions (temperature, pressure, media), and we will machine samples for testing. Trial pieces enjoy full material traceability.
