Q1: What exactly does "100% virgin PTFE" mean? How is it different from recycled or filled material?
A1: 100% virgin PTFE refers to the first-polymerized pure polytetrafluoroethylene resin, without recycled scrap or any fillers. It ensures high purity, excellent consistency, and full traceability. Recycled material may contain impurities or degraded polymer, reducing heat resistance and mechanical strength; filled grades add glass fiber, carbon, etc., which alter PTFE's inherent chemical inertness and electrical insulation. Our virgin tubing is ideal for applications demanding cleanliness and reliability.

Q2: What colors are available for customization? How is color achieved, and does it affect PTFE's inherent properties?
A2: We offer a range of colors such as red, blue, green, yellow, black, etc. Color is achieved by mixing ROHS/REACH-compliant organic or inorganic pigments before extrusion. The pigment content is extremely low (typically <1%) and has minimal impact on PTFE's temperature range (-70°C to +260°C), chemical inertness, and electrical insulation. However, colored tubing is not recommended for food contact unless the pigment is FDA-approved - please confirm when ordering.

Q3: Are there any limits on customized length? What are the minimum and maximum lengths?
A3: The extrusion process allows virtually unlimited length. There is no strict minimum, but for production efficiency and packaging we usually suggest at least 1 meter. You can specify any exact length, and we will cut precisely to your requirements.

Q4: What are the main differences between extruded PTFE tubing and molded PTFE tubing in performance and applications?
A4: Extruded tubing has thinner walls, good concentricity, smooth surface, and is suitable for long continuous lengths at lower cost. Molded tubing can have thick walls, slightly higher density, and better mechanical strength, but length is limited and the inner hole often requires machining. Extruded tubing is preferred for fluid transfer, cable jacketing, and light sealing; molded tubing is used for heavy-duty structural components or thick liners.

Q5: How flexible is this hose? Is it suitable for bending installations?
A5: Pure PTFE extruded tubing has some flexibility but is relatively stiff; the recommended bend radius is at least 5 times the outer diameter. For higher flexibility, choose thin-wall or convoluted designs. Avoid sharp bends during installation to prevent cracking. If frequent flexing is required, consider our spiral-reinforced or corrugated products.

Q6: What are the operating temperature and pressure ratings?
A6: Continuous service temperature ranges from -70°C to +260°C, with short-term exposure up to +300°C. Working pressure depends on wall thickness and diameter; at room temperature, typical thin-wall (1.5mm) tubing withstands about 2-4 MPa, and thick-wall can exceed 10 MPa.

Q7: Is it resistant to all chemicals? Which media should be avoided?
A7: Pure PTFE resists almost all strong acids (e.g., hydrochloric, sulfuric), strong alkalis, organic solvents, and oxidizers. The only exceptions are molten alkali metals (e.g., sodium, potassium) and fluor gas at high temperatures. For most industrial fluids, it is a nearly universal anti-corrosion material.

Q8: Can this tubing be used in food, beverage, or pharmaceutical industries? Is it FDA compliant?
A8: Our virgin PTFE material meets FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 for food contact. However, for colored tubing, please confirm if the pigment is food-grade; we can provide natural white or translucent virgin grade with FDA certificates upon request. ROHS and REACH compliance documentation are also available.

Q9: What dimensional tolerances are achievable for ID and OD? Do you support end-shaping per 2D/3D drawings?
A9: Extruded tubing typically has outer diameter tolerances of ±0.1mm to ±0.3mm (depending on size), with slightly looser inner diameter tolerances. We support secondary operations like flaring, flanging, grooving, or chamfering according to PDF/CAD 2D and IGES/STEP 3D drawings to meet your assembly requirements with fittings or flanges.
